Installing a networking
modem
To install a networking modem, follow these steps.
Step Action
1 Connect one end of a null modem cable to a connector labeled
SLT5-P
x
on the 5-port fanout cable connected to the Meridian
Mail right I/O panel.
This connector, x, must correspond to a port that has been
configured for a networking modem.

system” on page 10-34 for the correspondence between fanout
cable connector labels and ports configured during system
installation or modification. See

2 Connect the other end to the RS-232/EIA connection on the
modem.
3 Configure the modem as described in the
Meridian
Networking
Installation and Administration Guide
(NTP 555-7001-244).
