Frozen Image: Process Overview

NetBackup creates a frozen image as follows. (Steps 1, 2, and 6 apply only to transactional

databases such as those used with NetBackup for Oracle ServerFree Agent.)

1. Backup process requests application quiesce.

2. Application synchronizes. Must wait for transactions to complete.

3. Lock and flush the file system.

4. Trigger/create the frozen image.

5. Unlock the file system.

6. Release application.

7. Make backup of frozen image.

8. Release frozen image.
