Offhost Configuration Requirements
Diagram for Third-Party Copy Device
In this offhost backup method, a third-party copy device performs the I/O processing of
the backup (data movement).The 3pc.conf file describes the disks to be backed up and the
tape devices for data storage. Be sure to use the flowcharts and accompanying
instructions provided under “Offhost Configuration Flowcharts” on page 47.

- Use bptpcinfo command to
create the 3pc.conf file.
- Can use SANPoint Control to
obtain world-wide port names.
mover.conf file on media server:
Identifies the third-party copy
device(s).
-Use bpmoverinfo to create the
mover.conf file.
Client disks on SAN
*active means the third-party copy device
performs SCSI Extended Copy commands
to move the data.
